It's good to know that I know a few cooking tricks and recipes so I can fend for myself. But then again, it's always nice to have my mother's home cooking every once in a while too! I came home from Church today and lo and behold my mother made tonkatsu, a Japanese dish:
Japanese breaded deep-fried pork cutlets are known as Tonkatsu |
There is also chicken-katsu, obviously made with chicken using the same technique. Whether it's with pork or chicken, glazed with sauce and served with steamed white rice, katsu is a good meal. Having been in Japan up until last year, I ate at some pretty nice restaurants that served tonkatsu and chicken-katsu. And then there was the katsu dish I had at Da Pineapple Grill in Rexburg this year. You probably know what I'm going to say next, but I'm going to say it anyways:
Nothing beats my mom's home cooking!
